Engineering - Assistant Engineering Manager

Engineering Department, Cathay Subsidiary Services provides services to Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and its subsidiaries (the ‘Company’), including but not limited to Cathay Cargo Terminal ('CCT'), Cathay Pacific Catering Services (H.K.) Limited (‘CPCS’), Hong Kong Airport Services Limited (‘HAS’) and Vogue Laundry Service Limited (‘VLS’).

Assistant Engineering Manager – Material Handling System is responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities as well as contractor management and project deliveries in the respective subsidiaries. S/he will work closely with the centralised Engineering Operations Managers (Material Handling System) to deliver services in accordance with the strategic maintenance plan and seeking to ensure best maintenance practices of higher reliability, timely response and higher resilience.


  • Ensure that maintenance and overhaul plan for GSE/ vehicles/ production/ automation/ building facility etc. conducted in a timely manner.

  • Reduce major business impacts due to failure of critical systems and equipment.

  • Develop cost effective engineering solutions for productivity improvements.

  • Perform and contribute ideas for major projects development.

  • Lead and manage improvement projects to meet the company needs.

  • Ensure maintenance costs and inventory are kept within budget for prompt repair recovery.

  • Maintain spare parts inventories as well as order parts / equipment to ensure seamless supplies.

  • Conduct failure mode analysis for continuous improvement of equipment reliability.

  • Develop, train, and maintain appropriate technical support staff.

  • Monitor sub-contractor performance and perform contract negotiation.

  • Conduct additional projects / duties as directed by superior.

  • Perform 24 hours standby to ensure well communication with colleagues, smooth real time operation and maintenance, attending emergency and reporting duty during off-duty and typhoon as required.

  • Ensure engineering systems and equipment are compliant with the regulatory requirements of Hong Kong.


  • Degree holder in Engineering or related disciplines; or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good written and communication skills in both Chinese and English.

  • Good computer knowledge in MS Office, Good knowledge, and skills in computer aid system for inventory, PR & PO. Good management skills.

  • Work independently and result oriented.
